The Flag
Description: (see also definitions below)
The design of "The Scottish Flag of Independence" is to incorporate a star into the hoist side triangle of the field of the Scottish saltire. The star's proportions should be so that D is approximately 1/3 to 1/4 of H. The star's position should be so that it looks central within the triangle of the field - c should be positioned at exactly 1/2 of H and E should be approximately 3/4 of D. |
Definitions:
The hoist is the side of the flag where the attachments are fixed. H is the length of the hoist or the height of the flag when flying. The star is a regular star pentagon. D is the diameter of a circle drawn around the points of the star. c is the centre of the circle as described above. E is the distance of c from the hoist. |
Saltire Specifications:
Whilst the flag proportions are not fixed, 5:4. 5:3, 4:3 and 3:2 are considered acceptable. The bars of the saltire should be white and the ratio of the width of the bars in relation to the length of the hoist should be approximately 1:4 (between 1:3 and 1:5 is considered acceptable). The colour of the field should be Pantone 300 or Hexadecimal web colour #006CB4. |
